Goals

  • Review results from Think Tank 1 and status of EFIC
  • Provide input and direction on how EFIC will function to advance the interests of the community and enable broad impact
  • Establish partnerships on specific areas of investigation, and develop plans to implement studies/activities starting in 2019
  • Identify an advisory board

Dr. Doug Melton discussed The Kern Family Foundation and it focus areas, with overview of the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN) and the entrepreneurial mindset (EM). KEEN is a national partnership of universities with the shared mission to graduate engineers with an entrepreneurial mindset so they can create personal, economic, and societal value through a lifetime of meaningful work. Biographies

Participants from eleven academic institutions, several national organizations – American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), National Academy of Engineering (NAE) and The Kern Family Foundation, attended Think Thank 2, held November 13-14, 2018 at the ASU Chandler Innovation Center. The participants and the ASU hosts introduced themselves on Day 1, sharing their connection to faculty mentorship and aspirations for mentorship at their respective universities/organizations.
