About Devils Invent
Devils Invent is a series of weekend-long engineering and design challenges. Participating students are encouraged to design, build, and implement innovative solutions to challenging problem statements submitted by community, industry and University partners.
Devils Invent events are targeted at students that are committed to making a difference and developing their entrepreneurial mindset. The challenges are open to Freshman- Ph.D. students. Teams will be formed during the event.
Devils Invent – Tempe events will be hosted in the Generator Labs (ECG 100) and surrounding eSpaces and 3D print lab. Polytechnic events will be hosted in the Innovation Hub (Technology Center) and surrounding classroom spaces.

Who can apply?
Any ASU student, both undergraduate and graduate students, are welcome! We invite engineers and non-engineers alike to come join us for this event.
How do I get involved?
Students- If you are interested in participating please head over to this link and sign up.
Volunteers- If you are unable to dedicate your whole weekend to this event, come check it out for a few hours. Please see what we have available to volunteer.

What should I bring?
Participants will need to bring a valid student ID for admission, a government issued photo ID for borrowing hardware, and a laptop or desktop. Students are also more than welcome to bring sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, etc. Don’t forget to consider toiletries and other basic amenities.
How do I get there?
(Tempe) Devils Invent will be held in the Generator Labs at our Tempe Campus. (Poly) Devils Invent will be held in the Innovation Hub at the Technology Center on the Polytechnic campus.
How do teams work?
Teams will consist of a minimum of 3 but no more than 6 members. You can come with a pre-formed team but each team member must register individually. If you’re coming without teammates, don’t worry! We’ll be setting up an activity for participants to mingle and create teams!
What if I’m a beginner?
Every innovator needs to start somewhere! There will be workshops and mentors on board to help you dive into the world of design. No experience required!
What materials will be provided?
We will be providing a wide range of hardware and prototyping materials to make your experience successful.
What about prizes?
On Sunday, you will be presenting your project to a panel of judges based on the technical difficulty, innovation, originality, and practicality of your product. The top 3 teams will be awarded prizes.
Do we have to stay the whole time?
All participants must be present at registration on Friday night. The event will break from Friday night to Saturday morning, but then will continue through the night to Sunday afternoon. Students are encouraged to stay for the full duration! We will also provide rooms where participants can rest for periods during the night. We recommend students bring a blanket because it can get chilly in the Innovation Hub.
